Mutares sells SABO-Maschinenfabrik GmbH to SABO Holding GmbH with the participation of the previous management – Traditional manufacturer of garden tools focuses on continuity
Gummersbach, September 13, 2023 – The previous managing director of SABO-Maschinenfabrik GmbH, Lars Daniel, and Christoph Schindler, an investor from Oberberg, are acquiring 100% of the company’s shares from Mutares SE & Co. KGaA (ISIN: DE000A2NB650).

SABO-Maschinenfabrik GmbH, Gummersbach, is one of the leading brands for high-quality lawn mowers and garden care products for private and commercial customers in Europe. The company has been producing at the Hunstig site in Gummersbach, Germany, since 1932.

In the past three years following the takeover by Mutares SE & Co. KGaA in September 2020, the company has been successfully repositioned with a focus on expanding into new markets and tapping into the growth market of battery-powered lawn mowers and garden tools.

On this basis, the business is to be further strengthened and expanded in the coming years with a clear local focus.

Managing Partner Lars Daniel is not the only one who is certain that this will succeed: “This traditional brand must and will continue to cause a stir in the future. Our customers can look forward to continuity, because that’s what I stand for in particular,” says the long-standing manager and new partner. Customers can also look forward to innovative product updates in the future.

“I can assure our customers that business will continue to run smoothly on a solid basis and that both the ongoing gardening year and the coming early season are fully secured. On the contrary, we can expect a lot from Gummersbach in the future.”

Co-investor Christoph Schindler is also confident: “I have known the SABO brand and the people involved for several years now and am very pleased that we have managed to bring SABO back to the Oberberg region. SABO has a great tradition and I am sure that the company will build on the successes of the past”. The previous owner is also convinced of the path taken.
